Komodo is one of the 17,508 islands that compose of Indonesia. The island is particularly notable as the habitat of the Komodo dragon, the largest lizard on Earth, which is named for the island. Komodo lies between the substantially larger neighbouring islands Sumbawa to the west and Flores to the east.

We flew from Jakarta to Bali and then took another flight to Lauan Bajo. Then we travelled to Komodo Island by renting a boat from Labuan Bajo in Flores.

On the way to Komodo we visited Rinca Island which is another island that you can find the Komodo dragons in the wild.

The Komodo dragon is the largest species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang, and Padar. The dragons can grow to a maximum length of 3 metres and can weigh up to 70 kilograms.

Pink Beach: Komodo contains a beach with pink sand; the sand appears pink because it is a mixture of white sand and red sand.

It seems like a picturesque place and the pink beach looks interesting, but I would never, ever, visit it. And I suppose that does not come to you as a surprise, haha. I’d pick any other island to go to, without those gigantic creatures.
